RESEARCH & ACADEMIC SUBMISSIONS

ABSTRACTS AND POSTERS

The aim of the research and academic submission process is to encourage the discipline and practice of clinical research, critical thinking and evidence-based clinical practice amongst the next generation of clinical practitioners and postgraduate medical trainees in developing countries. The 2015 conference encouraged high-quality submissions from undergraduate and postgraduate entrants keen to present their work for the scrutiny and review of their peers, senior academics and other healthcare professionals attending the conference and exhibition.

Navigating Diabetes Care 2016 will showcase a variety of submitted abstracts, posters and literature reviews both online and at the conference and exhibition venue for the benefit of several hundred conference and exhibition participants over 3 days.

Submission Categories 2016

The conference welcomes participants to contribute research submission summaries in the form of an abstract or poster presentation (or research proposal incorporating a detailed literature) review highlighting principles (and examples) of best practice in one of the following categories.

PRIMARY CARE DIABETES AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

MEDICAL ETHICS AND EVIDENCE-BASED CLINICAL PRACTICE

MANAGEMENT OF CHRONIC DISEASE IN PRIMARY CARE

The 2016 submission categories have been chosen to reflect the central theme of the conference and to encourage a greater focus on primary care initiatives designed to alleviate the increasingly overwhelming burden of chronic disease in local communities.

Exhibition & Abstract Viewing

All submitted entries will be  available for viewing on the conference website until the 14th of October. Shortlisted submissions will be displayed at the conference exhibition (stand 1M71) throughout the programme. Contributors will be available at designated times to discuss the methodology and outcomes of their research. Delegates are encouraged to visit the exhibition at various stages throughout the programme.

BeyHealth Masterclass Teaching & Learning Award

The award is intended to encourage the discipline and practice of research, life-long learning and contribution towards continuing medical education activity throughout all levels of healthcare clinical practice. The Teaching and Learning Prize will be awarded as a discretionary contribution of N200,000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) towards research-related academic activity relevant to primary care. The winning entry will be announced on Conference Day 2 (14th October 2016).
